Biography
Peewara Sapsuwan is an associate in the business law group in our Calgary office in the energy, infrastructure and resources team. Peewara practises construction law with a focus on energy, infrastructure and capital projects, including construction agreements, engineering services agreements, EPC agreements, turnkey projects, and other capital projects and energy-related commercial agreements. In addition to Alberta and Ontario, Peewara has experience working on energy agreements and construction projects in several jurisdictions in the Indo-Pacific region.
Peewara’s work includes negotiating and drafting energy facilities and mining-related agreements, drafting and negotiating supplementary conditions to Canadian Construction Documents Committee forms, and drafting agreements for oil and gas projects, as well as clean and renewable energy projects, including CCUS facilities.

Peewara has acted in the following matters:
- The Canadian subsidiary of an international energy developer, in its acquisition of a joint venture interest in the Chin Chute and Magrath windfarms from Suncor Energy Inc.
- A Canadian headquartered utilities company, in its $730-million acquisition of a portfolio of wind and solar assets and projects located in Alberta and Ontario.
- A Canadian headquartered utilities company, in the commercial negotiation and drafting/conclusion of the engineering, procurement and construction services agreement for two hydrogen production and refuelling facilities at certain railyards of a Canadian headquartered railway company.
- An Alberta ski resort operator, in connection with an agreement with an international construction firm for the turnkey installation design, supply, install and commission of a fixed-grip 4-passenger chairlift system.
- A Canadian midstream services company in connection with an $82.2-million acquisition of a privately held midstream infrastructure operator through the purchase of all issued and outstanding shares.
- Representing a Thai bank in the registration and perfection of its personal property security interest in the lease and mortgage of a hotel in Melbourne, Australia, as loan collateral.
- Member of a team representing a Thai energy company in establishing a blockchain-based trading service for renewable energy certificates (RECs). Responsible for drafting the master sale and purchase agreements for both offline and blockchain-based transactions.
- Member of a team representing a Thai construction and engineering company in renegotiating a power purchase agreement and a concession agreement for a combined cycle gas turbine power plant near Yangon, Burma/Myanmar.
- Member of a team advising a power generation company in drafting a power purchase agreement and a concession agreement for a 7,000 megawatts hydroelectric power plant in Laos People’s Democratic Republic.
